When I heard the word Networking Meeting I used to dread it. I always thought networking meant going to meetings where everyone passed out there business cards and do little speeches about their product. I’m finding out though that’s not the case. Networking is about realtionships. It might be a bunco club, or a play group, even the gym class you take every week. We were made to be in realtionship with one another and networking is just that building realtionships. I like to “Network”now…
Rate info you really can use..
I hear clients ask when should I lock in my rate? and sometimes I hear loan officers give long explanations of what rates are doing or have done historically and what the bond market is doing. But I usually find that clients really are not all that set on what the “rate is”. People are usually motivated by other factors You are either getting financing usually because of 3 reasons. Reason #1 you are purchasing a property. In that case you need to lock in as soon as you can because you are in contract and usually have a 30 day close. Reason #2 you are doing a rate and term refinance and rates are pretty much low anyway. Or #3 you need cash and in that case your motivation is the cash. I have also noticed that clients usually come in with rate in mind or a payment they are comfortable with. Rates tend to go higher faster then they go lower. Rates can also change 2 or 3 times a day. So waiting for that rate to come down by .125 or a .25 might make you miss the boat. If you are comfortable with the payment, and you are achieving the end result purchase or cash then don’t wait to lock. When you are comfortable then do it. Waiting too long you might find yourself with a slightly higher rate then you initially had in mind.
What this business means to me..
Thinking this morning about the mortgage and real estate business in general. Its such an emotional business not only for the client but for the loan originator and real estate agent. If your really serving your client you really become vested in their lives and family. I know that I love the business because of that. I love the journey that we both travel on, not only closing their deal but really becoming friends and building that realtionship. That’s what this business is for me REALTIONSHIP.
First blog post
This is my first blog ever… I am starting this because I really want to give people easy and reliable information on what I have learned in my years in the mortgage industry . I have helped over thousands of clients in my 25 plus years working on the inside of the lending world. Because of that experience it gives me the knowledge and expertise to help people achieve their home ownership dreams. There is so much information out there for people from blogs, the news and of course social media and a lot of it can be confusing to the normal borrower. I don’t know if your are like me, but I like to cut to the chase and know “okay what does all this mortgage info mean for me in simple terms.”Some of us are not familiar with mortgage lingo like debt ratio, lock in rate, points and of course that ugly word APR yikes… I like to educate my clients in ways they can understand with information they can really use. So stay tuned in the next few days and weeks.. while I get this blog thing going.. okay I did it… my first blog ever..
